Just down the street from Donatella Arpaia’s namesake pizzeria (psst: there’s a secret entrance through the back), lies this vibrant cocktail lounge. Cobalt blue banquettes and luxe chandeliers make for a super-posh atmosphere, but the vibe remains (thankfully) low-key. The menu is divided into speakeasy-esque cocktails alongside modern mixes; all made with fresh produce procured from the Union Square Greenmarket. Donatella’s obsession with coconuts explains her signature cocktail, made with Ciroc Coconut Vodka, coconut milk and coffee ($12). Another must-try is the “Mooner” mixed with Moonshine and Martini & Rossi Roso (together at last!). Any of the mind-blowingly delicious pies can be ordered from the restaurant, but the “hangover pizza” is what we envision most Dbar patrons will be munching on, especially after one too many Mooners.
