Ditch Plains UWS: In the former home of BarBao, nestled just a block away from the strip of West 80s joints that suffer from "which-bar-is-which" syndrome, Ditch Plains sits as a refuge from the nearby frat-boy havens...for now. Unfortunately, once the heavy-drinking crowd gets word of the famed “Ditch Dogs” (hot dogs smothered in three-cheese mac ‘n’ cheese), the kitchen, open until 2am, may be inundated with orders. Sidle up to the bar while you still can for a "Bodhi’s Revenge" (tequila, agave syrup, Frank’s Red Hot, OJ and lime juice, $12), a drink that goes down with a kick so strong, you'll be shaking your fist at Swayze. But there's no need to ditch if fire isn't your thing— with more than 75 wines on offer (an average full bottle is around $35), 15 brewskis and an impressive cocktail list, there's a little something for everyone here. Not to mention more than enough top-notch food to soak up all that booze. As Jack Johnson tunes simmer in the background, indulge in Lobster Twice Baked Potatoes ($12), Fried Pickles ($9), or one of the signature 'dogs from Marc Murphy's carefully crafted menu. Come night's end, the tab will likely be way more than you envisioned, but luckily, it's accompanied by a glass filled with saltwater taffy, which certainly eases the pain (and your hangover).
