Dopo Teatro East: The popular theater district staple brings its large plate/loud family Italian charms to the Upper East Side with a second location. As massive, if not as elaborate, as its forebearer, the resto boasts two floors, an “al fresco” garden and even a wine cellar room for private parties. The menu is less elaborate in scope, though just because one might get what they expect doesn’t mean it ain’t good: notably, big plates of lasagna ($16), fettuccini ($17), and spaghetti ($14), not to mentions meats, poultry, and fish entrees such as veal scaloppine ($24), grilled cornish hen ($24) and baked seabass ($28). There are even a dozen or so pizzas ($14-$18) and everything can be ordered family-style if need be. Drinks, perhaps unfortunately, aren’t “family style,” but there is a large wine list, spanning the globe and spanning everyone’s price range. And, with no Broadway show to hit up afterward, you can take your time for once!
