Dos Caminos Meatpacking:
You know you’re in the Meatpacking District when you look at a cocktail menu and think $11 maragaritas are a great deal, but at least at the newest Dos Caminos (a.k.a. the new Vento), you get what you pay for. In this case, that includes a massive list of tequilas and specialty cocktails (try the $12 Tea-Time in Jalisco), a hip atmosphere highlighted by an eclectic mix of music (Paul Simon followed by Phoenix = sweet) and reliable eats (sure, you could get more authentic Mexican elsewhere, but who's really looking for authenticity in the Meatpacking?) The main level features a dimly lit dining area and a bar hardly able to accommodate the mixed crowd of suits and twenty-something pre-gamers hovering over bowl of guac. A candlelit stairwell leads down to 675 Bar or up to a dining room featuring Victorian-style booths and minimalist Mexican accents, ideal for a date or a celebratory meal with friends. Unlike most new haunts in the area, expect Dos Caminos to stick around for awhile.
