Two brothers from Berkeley decided New York needed the type of taqueria they had back home. After opening two locations downtown, they decided that the Upper East Side should be deprived no longer. Dos Toros Taqueria brings its straightforward menu to the Upper Easy where the hardest decision you’ll have to make is whether to order the pork, chicken, steak or beans as a burrito ($6-$8), taco ($3-$4), quesadilla ($5-$7) or plato ($6-$8). A word to the wise, the hot sauce is no joke—unless your friend’s tears and a runny nose are funny to you. This isn’t the type of joint that serves specialty cocktails, so order a cerveza like Tecate ($2) or Pacifico ($3) and imagine that the breeze coming in through the front window is from San Francisco Bay rather than Lexington Avenue.
