Duane Park: Who knew that down home Loo-siana could come to upscale Tribeca? The new Duane Park (formerly Duane Park Cafe), serves up a haute riff on Southern food by Shawn Knight—who’s spent years in the kitchen with Emeril Lagasse—with a side of downtown chic. The menu, modern with a southern twist, features Louisiana crabcakes and BBQ quail with black-eyed peas, as well as American savory dishes like duck confit, sauteed cod, and pan-roasted chicken. Although the ornate black and white illustrated wallpaper, antique chandelier, and old-fashioned register behind the bar evoke fancy plantations past, the friendly staff maintains a casual vibe. Bonus points for a wine list with affordable choices. Don’t leave without trying the signature drink, the Duane Park Manhattan—Woodford Reserve, Punt e Mes red vermouth, and black cherry. |
