Across the street from the supposedly charming Kellogg’s Diner lies its complete polar opposite, DuMont. Though locally famous for their burgers (which spawned offshoot DuMont Burger on Bedford Avenue), this petite bistro is just as popular for all of the other eating and drinking that goes on there. While the dining room is constantly packed, try visiting the back room or, in pleasant weather, the garden, where you can down some mac and cheese or one of the specialty cocktails. One of the truly great watering holes in the area (particularly for brunch with visiting parents), this is a place where you can grab a quality meal as well as a killer drink, making it a definite Du.
This place is more look and hype than quality. The food portions are small and overpriced. The burgers are decent, but not worth getting treated like an as*hole by the snobby staff. I've lived two blocks from this place for 4 yrs, and I always seem to pass it for better fare.
