East End Kitchen: “Seasonal,” “organic,” “grass-fed” and (the oh-so-tired) “farm-to-table” certainly aren't new buzz words to the city, but you generally won’t find ‘em on the UES. Until now, that is. East End Kitchen, a New-American bistro, has changed the Uptown game thanks to a husband-and-wife team who have opened this new Yorkville hotspot. They’ve even hired a rock star (literally) of a chef who happens to be of Joel Robuchon fame. The clean and rustic space, lined with reclaimed-oak tables, is where you’ll take a date when you want to feel like a real grown up. (The nearby faux-Irish pubs can wait till after-dinner bingeing, er, dessert.) The 22-foot bar is the place where Upper East Siders drink craft beer out of mason jars ($6-$9) and sip Bread and Jams (a vodka cocktail with muddled watermelon and jalapeño, $13). The brief bar menu nails it with a few apps ($7-$14), a good steak ($27) and house chocolate chip cookies ($6), none of which will break the bank. Word is out, so head over and check it out ASAP—you can already locate it by following the pretty preppies lining the block on East 81st.
