Ed's Lobster Bar Annex:
Native New Yorker Ed McFarland does more than “Consider the Lobster”—he masters it. After successfully founding SoHo’s Ed’s Lobster Bar in 2007 and then innovating Ed’s Lobster Bar Kiosk in Battery Park City for the summer of 2010, Ed has now introduced a new slant on the lobstah scene: The Annex. Larger than McFarland’s other joints, this long 'n' narrow burgeoning LES in-spot offers a white marble bar in front, an L-shaped raw bar in back, and even an open garden space in the rear for savoring your shellfish in true New England style (al fresco, duh). The menu resembles his other ventures, highlighting lobster (steamed whole, $34, and pretty much any other way you might eat it for less). With ample space for both prep and hip, as well as a delightful Oyster Bloody Mary ($15) offered for brunch, this big, bad new McFarland joint is well worth a swing-through.
