Elsewhere:
A lot of bars and restaurants in New York can make you wish you were eating elsewhere. Well, now you can indulge your fantasy, at Elsewhere on 9th Ave. The lantern-lit rustic décor of this farm-to-table restaurant (they use locally grown, seasonal ingredients) is a relaxing escape from the crush of Midtown, especially if you can snag a table in the atrium. Although there is no outdoor seating, the glass ceiling of the atrium allows you to enjoy the nice weather under some well-kept foliage. Stop by for a glass of wine (the Ode to Lulu, a rosé, is delicious—$12) or enjoy one of their traditional or specialty cocktails. Check their blog for specialty pairing dinners (often featuring small-batch breweries) or swing by on Mondays when wine is always 50% off. Order up a few shared plates (roasted candied peanuts and garlic chips—$5) from the knowledgeable and friendly staff, but beware of slow service if you’re trying to catch a Broadway show. Because when you head to Elsewhere, you have to check your NYC timetable at the door.
