Emporio:
Emporio, which straddles the border between NoLita and Little Italy, is an aptly named establishment: It's not only a restaurant serving everything from olive oil-whipped baccala to fried squash blossoms with anchovies, it's also a food emporium where patrons can buy Italian products like imported pasta and herbs. The interior is modeled after a 1920s Italian grocer, but you won't be checking out anytime soon—especially when you're enjoying the crudo, formaggi, and other bar snacks while soaking up the atmosphere under the restaurant's glass roof. No more BYOB with their new beer and wine liscence, stop by and sample their great wine list of 200. They feature something for every budget.
I actually thought that Emporio's fare was on the low side of mediocre. It has a cool atmosphere and nice servers. It's just that the food could use a bit more attention and care - especially the salads, which were downright sloppy.
