Eolo:
Mythology buffs might remember Aeolus as ruler over the winds, and language buffs may recognize Eolo as his Italian name—after all, he was said to have inhabited the islands near Sicily. Chelsea residents, however, should know that the so-named neighborhood restaurant welcomes their patronage whether they’re buffs or otherwise. Diners enjoy Sicilian dishes alongside vino from the extensive, Sicilian-heavy wine list either indoors or al fresco—that is, as long as they don’t mind the subway periodically rushing beneath them along Seventh Avenue. Anyone looking to unwind early would be wise to stop by during happy hour (4-6:30pm daily) when the purchase of a glass of wine or a cocktail comes with your choice of complimentary antipasto. Sure, you may not actually be an American in Sicily, but after a couple glasses of L’Americana in Sicilia (port-laced cherries, Maker’s Mark and vermouth, $14) you might not know the difference.
