Fabio Piccolo Fiore:
It’s hard to go wrong with Italian, but Fabio Piccolo Fiore goes above and beyond the average cibo. Chef Fabio Hakill (Rome’s Il Caminetto, Park Side) serves up splendid dishes like Ravioli all' Aragosta ($24) and Veal Toscano ($30) alongside an equally appetizing menu of primarily Italian wines ($7-$11/glass). The Italian waitstaff are molto friendly and not shy to steer you in the right direction for your dining pleasure. In the main dining room, the walls are adorned with replicas of famous art by noted Renaissance artists, which goes swimmingly with the more-than-decorative grand piano that’s frequently put to use by visiting musicians. Smaller dining nooks give patrons a view of passersby and show off the walls’ hand-painted piccolo fiores, or little flowers, that give the resto its name. Grab a seat at the bar if you’re more parched than famished, but make sure to order up some dessert—you sure as hell don’t want to miss out on their homemade cannoli.
