Fatty 'Cue West Village: Imagine for a minute that Brother Jimmy’s hooked up with Tao and maybe had a brief fling with Macao Trading Co. Kinda an odd love triangle, right? Well, that’s what we thought too…until we met the lovechild, a dimly-lit Southern BBQ with a vaguely Oriental-infused ambience and menu, new to the West Village. Speaking of a steamy hookup, most patrons seem to get their night started with the Foreplay Cock Tail (aperol, yuzu, sparkling wine and grapefruit zest, $14) though we’re thinking that has more to do with the cheeky name than the drink itself (which, trust us, gets even more fun namedropping on your third round). Your best bet, though, is probably the Chupacabra (tequila, chili-infused domaine de canton, fresh watermelon and lime, $12) which is a refreshing blend of tangy flavors, garnished with a candied pineapple. The pushy waitstaff will likely pressure you to splurge on “Thai Style Bottle Service” (starting at $70) to get the full “Fatty ‘Cue Program Experience,” but so long as you politely decline their advances (just like that overly aggressive date!) you’ll wind up having a lovely booze-infused evening at the new outpost of everybody’s favorite Billyburg joint. And if you splurge for the spiced chocolate or buckwheat and maple-barley ice cream, who knows, you might even score a homerun.
