Fedora:
Longtime West Village haunt Fedora has closed to make way for…Fedora. Restaurateur Gabriel Stulman (of Jeffrey’s Grocery and Joseph Leonard) and Executive Chef Mehdi Brunet-Benkritly are serving up top-notch food with drinks to match in the newly renovated subterranean space. Half of the shabby-chic room is dedicated to tables situated under black-and-white photos and a pressed-tin ceiling, but half is wisely dedicated to the bar. You can eat Wagyu Tongue ($13) and Fried Chicken (claw and all, $23) on either side of the room, but the clamoring crowd clearly enjoys chatting with the friendly bartenders while their “Kid vs. Cobra” (chai infused gin, cinnamon syrup and “orange venom,” $12) or “Louisa May’s Favorite Table” (Laird’s Applejack, Lustau Pale Sherry, Combier and apple cider, $12) is mixed. Those who prefer their booze to have only one component will be thankful for the long and varied wine list, as well as the wide selection of spirits—the rest might just be thrilled they scored a seat in the first place.
