Unfortunately, the Flipster’s name is the pun you think it is. But have no fear: even considering that , this place is definitely not pretentious. If anything, it's more like a glorified Johnny Rockets that serves hard liquor (and we're guessing there are plenty of irony-loving hipsters that are nuts about that concept). Nabbing the corner of one of Park Slope’s busier intersections, it’s a convenient—and, sigh, kid-friendly—spot to grab a beer, watch a game and sample from a menu of 15 different burgers. Vegheads can savor the Zero Burger ($9) made with Portobello mushrooms, where as you meat people might like a Burger Surprise ($10), the tasty—if not surprising—bacon and blue cheese variant. Plus, we're talking six kinds of fries...though these are hit and miss: avoid the soggy garlic and pesto and choose crispier shoestring or waffle fries instead (all $4). Monday nights are wing nights and Wednesdays are half-off all drinks—so you can down enough frozen margs ($9) to forget you’re in a place with such a dopey name.
