Fort Reno Provisions: Keep your eyes peeled for this infant comfort food venue...but even without any signage to call attention to its existance, this place is packed. Two BFFs are behind the creation of this homey resto and have dubbed it “Fort Reno Provisions” in honor of a man-made hill in D.C. that they call the "least visited historical site." The whole lacking visitors thing is the opposite here, as the spot offers only 25 seats squeezed in anywhere a chair can fit, plus some space for bar flies to just barely spread their wings. Their fall-off-the-bone menu by chef Lia Forman (formerly of Colicchio & Sons) offers quarter, half or full portions of brisket, pulled pork, chicken and ribs ($6-$24) to be complemented with tongue-tickling sides of collard greens, mac and cheese, baked beans and coleslaw. To go with your good food, guzzle down a grown-up Shirley temple, a.k.a. the Shirley Collins (gin, Peychaud’s bitters, Kirshwasser and soda, $10) or a local beer like the sweet stout Mothers Milk ($6). Take out is also available for those wanting to enjoy the comfort food from the comfort of their own homes.
