Franny's: New York has a bad rep for being the gritty city, but Prospect Heights pizzeria, Franny’s, thinks green, serving up sublime pies while painstakingly preserving our planet. All veggies, fruits, poultry and fish are either organic or plucked from local sources, while meats, sans hormones or antibiotics, leave foodies happier and maybe healthier...even after devouring a whole pizza. Even the menus are printed on recycled paper (though we do not endorse eating them). Instead, use them to select your pie, ranging from $8 (extra virgin olive oil and sea salt for you vegans) to $17 (clams, chiles and parsley). As cozy as a coal oven, Franny’s attracts locals, couples, professors, kids, all pizza connoisseurs, anytime of the day. But it’s worth the often lengthy wait for a table; just grab a bar stool and taste some appetizers with a glass of Calabria ($10). Salute! |
