Ginger’s Bar:
Go for the pool, stay for the burly crowd. As far as lesbian bars go, Ginger’s is pretty much the opposite of the defunct Meow Mix. Firstly, it’s still open. Secondly, the chill vibe makes it less of a pick-up spot and more of a local, friendly staple on Fifth Ave.’s bar row. We don’t like to throw around the term butch, but the crowd is monopolized mostly by 30- to 40-something ladies who wouldn’t be out of place on a softball team. Some nights feature karaoke, though, and that’s when the fun really heats up. Even if you’re not really into the LGBT scene, nothing says fun like singing Indigo Girls with a pint of Sam Adams in your hand. Okay, so that is a little gay.
Great post. I love this place. Always have a blast when I go with my friends.

Kudos to Ginger's. The vibe is perfect,the music is great; the women are friendly,not "stuck up" as some other lesbian bars/dance parties I've been to. The owner,Shelia,is as down home as anyone you'd want to meet. Ginger's rocks!
