Gravy: Hey, y’all! If you’ve been looking for New Orleans in New York, South Carolina off Park Avenue South, a bit of the bayou in the Big Apple, get ready for Gravy. Located in the Flatiron District, Gravy is serving upscale southern comfort food, Manhattan-style. You can satisfy your hankerin’ for Black-Eyed Pea Hummus ($10) and Scallops with Honey Grits ($24) under numerous glass light fixtures suspended from the soaring ceiling, or you may sidle up to the marble-topped bar for a Sherman’s March (Carolina Moonshine, raw agave nectar, lapsang souchong tea and Talisker whisper, $14) or a Garden of Good and Evil (Farmer’s Gin, chamomile tea and St Germain, $14). Brightly colored furniture fills the front lounge in the otherwise muted room, and rumor has it a private chef’s table is tucked away upstairs. Life may move a little slower in the South, but this is New York—get to steppin’!
