It was only a matter of time before the classic cocktail craze made its way to tiny Clinton Hill. More doo-wop than Mmm-bop, Hanson Dry is reminiscent of that lesser-celebrated decade, the 1950s, with art deco touches and The Platters on the sound system. The drinks themselves hark back to a simpler time, with minimal ingredients (that pack a fairly weak punch) in stark contrast to the mixology madness storming city bars. The namesake cocktail includes gin, bitters and vanilla, while vodka, soda and cherry flavors make up the Kiev Cooler (both $9). Less risky choices include eight reasonably-priced drafts ($5-6) or a small selection of wines (ordered "bold" or "dry"). The space itself is polished and well-crafted, emanating a warm glow for larger groups to bask in at the rear, or up front where a long bar lends a neighborhoody-vibe. The word from the bird: come warmer weather, a patio out back will seat a couple dozen more cats.
