Harlem Tavern:
Like any good beer garden, Harlem Tavern offers plenty of outdoor (and indoor) seating, a tiny but tasty food menu and more brews than you can try in a day (though you’re welcome to give it a go). The patio’s scenery will have you wondering where the “garden” is (the corner of FDB and 116th is hardly lush…), but the New-American fare is good enough for seconds (who can resist a pulled pork sandwich for $11?) and the drinks are bountiful. Each of their 20 drafts ($6-$10) comes in a custom glass—but if you’re going to get attached and want a souvenir (if only!), save yourself the strife and order one of their 20 bottles instead ($6-$10). Don’t fret if you’ve got a hoity-toity beer-avoider in tow—they can sip on a glass from the extra-long wine list ($8-$12) or snag a frozen cocktail ($8)—they may need it when they realize they’ve passed the UWS and landed in Harlem!
Re: the above review/description. Is the implication that any "unsuspecting" person who finds themselves above 96th Street must naturally need a cocktail to calm their "understandable" nervousness about being in Big Bad Scary Harlem? What a crappy, ignorant thing to put in a restaurant review. "Egads, I'm in HARLEM! Gimme a stiff one, barkeep!"
