Havana Central @ The West End:
A Castro-esque bar for the people? Havana Central is really part of a huge capitalist restaurant conglomerate. Don’t be thoroughly disheartened though. The prices are very much in favor of the average working stiff. They’ve also got great looking fake palms and super duper mojitos, not to mention sangria by the pitcher in six—count 'em—six varieties. Of course, the academics from nearby Columbia, who make up the bulk of the clientele, will be very thrilled to know that they can still come here to channel their favorite Beat Generation poet. All the relics of the former West End are intact in the front room, and right where they should be. It’s like Kerouac’s On the Road with a very big splash of rum on top of all the beer.
I was there for dinner (if that's what u call it)last Thursday.
Basically, I have had better food in a dining hall. The paella was dry and tastless. My date's burger wasn't like the west end burgers used to be. It was dry and paper thin.
It took us forever to get a waiter's attention, and the place wasn't busy. He just wasn't around. Then, it took us nearly an hour to get our food.
We were better off without it. I wonder why they kept the west end name. It's nothing like the west end used to be. It's like the fun is gone.

I went to havana central with a few friends for a night out. We first had dinner, the nachos and arroz con pollo were great. We stayed for some drinks and the fun atmosphere. The mojitos were great and the staff was really energetic.
