Hecho en Dumbo: Leaving behind a bittersweet group of die-hard patrons in DUMBO, Hecho en Dumbo has "mudarse a Manhattan." And with its migration across the Brooklyn Bridge, it brings dreams of an expanded menu, custom interior design, delivery and its hopes of providing Manhattan with more than just taco stands. The new kitchen allows Hecho to experiment with larger dishes, such as Mole Negro ($16), with its confit Guinea hen legs melt drizzled in an explosive Mole sauce. Likewise, the new space allows the owners to finally play around with the décor, coming up with a muted Mexican theme. Although Hecho a Bowery cannot stay open as late as the old joint in BK, the new place shakes up margaritas ($11 "Margrita Tamarindo" Herradura Tequila Blanco, house-made Tamarind juice, dash of simple, chile piquin rim) that will keep you wandering the Bowery after closing time. Looks like this summer on the island is going to be one hot tamale. |
