High Heat:
Accurately named after wildly warm weather that hits New York in the summer, chef Waldy Malouf’s new spot advertises pizza, burgers and tap. The new eatery boasts artisan thin crust ‘za sporting unusual toppings like thick cured bacon and jalapenos ($10.50) and their smokestack burgers truly are stacked with the goods—they even offer a pizza burger and vegan options. While they dole out homemade soda and desserts, those looking for something a little stronger can settle down for one of their wines or beers on tap. They also offer patrons beer and wine-based cocktails like Sauvignon Blanc with ginger apricot soda and fresh mint ($5.50). And though their edibles and drinkables are both cheap and tasty, the interior leaves something to be desired. Fashioned more like the inside of a nice Shake Shack than the hip downtown spot it’s destined to be, this place could benefit from some hot new styling.
