High Horse Saloon:
You won’t need to get on your high horse to approach this down-to-earth drinking spot, where simple décor, affordable bevs and a low-key neighborhood crowd promise an inviting environment for all. Located next to the High Horse Salon (and, surprise, also owned by Kristi Banister), much of the hip(ster) crowd consists of pre- and post-appointment minglers and boyfriends waiting for their ladies to finish up next door. The drink menu runs the gamut from high-end whiskeys (already more than 30 varieties) to a High Horse Lager ($5), and two wines on tap ($7). With shot-and-beer specials ($5), a kickass happy hour and the freedom to bring drinks between the two venues, don’t be surprised when you find excuses to up your usual hair regime.
