Hog Pit:
If there was ever a place that made you want to crush an empty $2 beer can against your forehead, it was the Hog Pit in the MPD. Coated with a layer of grime and filled with honky-tonk music, the Pit was always the place to kick back and laugh at the Jersey-ites waiting in line at Lotus across the street. The specter of gentrification has followed this bar to its new digs in the Flatiron District, however: In its new location, not only can you see the floor, but you can see it's a fancy floor. So put on your best biker jacket and throw some bar stools around the new place—you’ll have it looking like the old Hog Pit in no time. Open 12pm-4am M-S, 5pm-1am Sunday.
These places need to keep it real, however I guess its hard to make a new venue look like an old school watering hole. I guess everything was new at one time. Hope the food doesnt change though. They serve some mean BBQ.
