Hotel Chantelle: Three floors of fun, and yet, there are no rooms to book at Hotel Chantelle. There’s also no sign outside this new 1920s-style French restaurant and lounge, mon ami, so look for the address over the doors. The main level is the only one open thus far, but party-goers will soon be able to mingle on the all-weather rooftop and dance in the basement’s VIP lounge. What makes it VIP? The need for a skeleton key, of course! Don’t worry, with a thousand in circulation, someone you know is bound to get one from the owner (of Royal Oak and Sweet Ups in Brooklyn). If not, sip your insecurities away with The Bramble (a blackberry sour, $12), though ladies have been known to gravitate toward the Pink Russian (vodka, raspberry puree and cream, $12). Once the kitchen opens, you may enjoy “French Colonial” options, unless you’d rather nibble on your date on those handsome leather banquettes. Keep it classy though, this is Hotel Chantelle, not Motel 6. |
