Hudson Bar @ the Hudson Hotel:
After a few minutes at Hudson Bar, you’ll start looking around for the film crew. Never has a better-looking crowd been seen in a better-looking spot. A luminescent glass floor casts a glow up the bare legs of the mini-skirt-wearing model types sipping Polish Apple Martinis and chatting with the up-and-coming actor types. The decorative accents, a chair resembling a tree stump, and a hand-painted ceiling by world-renowned artist Francesco Clemente add to the fabulous mix of space odyssey-meets-Versailles created by famed designer Philippe Starck. The rooftop garden with jungle-like climbing vines and cushy antique chairs is one of the nicest in the city. There is no denying that the place is swank, but make sure you look the part if you want to partake. It’s also the most clientele-picky hotel bar in the city, so dress nicely and show up early.
i loved the drinks, the service and the strange friendly people...

The bar was empty when we arrived (on a Friday). We came with a group of 6 people, were seated at a table and proceeded to order in excess of $300 over the period of 1.5 hrs in individual drinks. When 2 more of our friends arrived they were denied admission (in an unpleasant manner) because we did not get bottle service. One bottle was approx $300, so we already fulfilled their min. req. There are numerous better bars in New York with less illogical entrance policies. The bar was still pretty empty when we left. I would not recommend this place.

I love this place! I've been there a many times since it opened, and I have to say the quality is still there. The crowd is amazing, the music too. Really cool place to chill during the weekend. They also have great original drinks, my favorite the Canton Ginger Martini...but beware they are strong :)
