Idle Hands: They say idle hands make the devil’s playthings, and we’re pretty sure the devil wouldn’t mind hanging around a bar dedicated to beer, bourbon and rock…then again, neither would we. Located beneath the binge-drinking paradise that is Billy Hurricanes, Idle Hands caters to a different sort of East Village crowd, the sort that know the difference between a pilsner and a lager, and drink bourbon because they enjoy the taste. But while the alcohol selection (rotating menu of 50 craft beers, 80 bourbons and another 50 Whiskey/Rye/Scotches) may have you thinking “speakeasy,” this is no Death & Co—a few scattered posters of big music acts and small wooden tables make for the only décor and an atmosphere decidedly lacking in pretention. Since it really only takes a single idle hand to raise a glass, wrap those remaining digits around a juicy slider from resident burgermeister That Burger, which serves up their signature burgers for $2 every night of the week, except for Mondays from 7-10pm when they're free. So grab a seat with a group of friends, order up a round of “Meet Your Makers” (A shot of Makers with any drink order, $5), and hop on the Highway to Hell.
