Iggy's Keltic Lounge:
It’s a best of dives, worst of dives scenario at Iggy’s, which tells the tale of two Lower East Sides. On weekdays, punk rockers and like-minded dregs come here for inexpensive beer and cheap thrills. On weekends, frat boys who have a million bars just like this on their uptown or out-of-town blocks sweep in to get loud and pee on toilet seats elsewhere for a change. The bartender’s Irish brogue somewhat offsets the disingenuous Upper East Side generic-ness that can become one’s first impression upon entering. The anti-sceney mentality at Iggy’s is a little tiresome—whether you live on the Lower East Side or came here to drink, complaining about hipsters on Ludlow Street is as boring as moaning about all the French people in France. Yet, guess who the guy drinking next to you hates?
I stopped by this spot last weekend and had a blast. The jukebox was great and the bartenders friendly. Can't beat a Pabst+shot for $5!

I think I know who your talking about
I remember seeing a bar maid here who was a complete psycho and only paid attention to her friends who came to drink. Anyone else just got kind of ignored, or rudely told to wait their turn. I have never had a problem, the staff has always been polite to me, but I have seen some some of the female bartenders being rude to guests. I will say in Iggy's defense there are some genuinely nice and polite bartenders so it isn't all bad.

YOU - work hard for your money and when you go out to spend it, would like to be treated with just a little bit of decency, right?
Me - Local NYC barfly for the last 10 years.
Iggys - dive bar with a RUDE & RACIST staff.
Went in here Friday night to meet up with our group of about 20 people. We are a surf group with a 500 + membership that meets up for dinner & drinks once a month. In this economy, you would think anyone would be happy to have our business.
So I got there early with my pal. Despite two bartenders (both 30ish, a blond and a tatted up redhead) at an uncrowded bar, it took me 5 min to get two beers! No worries. Slowly, my friend and I begin to notice how slow and unfriendly they were to just about everyone.
RACIST part - Two guys from our group are Indian, but American born. They asked the Red Head if they could close their tab. She rudely replied "You have to ask the bartender who served you. I know, all YOU PEOPLE think us white girls look the same". They were taken back and did not know what to say, and she went on to serve the next person.
After hearing that, my friend and I decided it was time to leave. I asked the blond to close my tab and she darted to the register before I could tell her that we had a prearranged discount. So I asked the Red Head, " could you please let her know I am with the surf group before she rings it up?" She snarled "Tell her yourself, I am not your F_cking mother!"
WOW! When the blond came back I told them both "Thanks for the great service". Normally, I tip at the very least 20%, usually at a bar its more like 30%. But I did something that I have never done before, tipped $1 on a $30 bill.
A few bars in NYC are famous for having rude staff, and that's why you go there (Hogs n Heifer's). But Iggy's is not one of those bars.
If you know where to look, cheap PBRs are more common then wannbe hipsters in the LES. Do yourself a favor, and stay away from this bar at all costs! Much better places in the area, without the attitude or racism!
