Il Matto:
Even if you didn’t know that Il Matto means “mad man” in Italian, it wouldn’t take long for you to figure it out once you sat in one of the lower level’s round booths, which are essentially very chic, very minimalist, dark wooden versions of the Mad Hatter’s teacups. Upstairs, full table settings align the shiny glass top bar and huge windows offer a great view of the city streets below. The sophisticated Italian fare seems normal enough, but a glance at the drink specials quickly reminds you of the restaurant’s name. Christina Bini, a world-renowned Italian mixologist, is responsible for the quirky concoctions ($13 - $15), which are all infused with foods that are not normally found in cocktails, like cucumbers and red bell peppers. The “Pasolini” features ricotta cheese and mixed berries, while the “Zucchinidori” is a lovely mix of—you guessed it—zucchini and Midori. Curiouser and curiouser!
