This bar’s name means “the place next door” in Italian, which is fitting as it’s located right next door to its big sister restaurant, Il Bagatto. The perennially packed big sister loses people to this cozy wine bar when lines get long and patrons desire a more casual atmosphere. With its exposed brick, fire hydrant (clearly, it’s dog-friendly), and scant tables, Il Post Accanto caters to small groups of people—mainly dates—who want to sample their 200+ bottles of wine (60 by the glass) and snack on the salty, bready treats on the countertop before ordering from a handful of authentic Italian dishes. Follow the grapevines intertwined along the ceiling overhead to the pricier Il Bagatto, or just pretend you’re rich by association.
