There’s nothing wrong with non-Italian wines, nothing at all. But try telling that to Luigi Iasilli, owner of Italian wine bar In Vino, and that thought just might be your last. An offshoot of Alphabet City restaurant Max, this cavernous and rustic restaurant boasts over 20 wines by the glass and a staggering 186+ by the bottle—all of which are Italian, of course. A knowledgeable and friendly staff can recommend anything from a Sardinian Cannonau to the Puglia Primitivo, all destined to leave you feeling like you got socked in the head with mama’s lasagna. And you’d better listen, since this place doesn’t serve beer or liquor. Add to that a yummy menu on the inexpensive side, and that’s amore.
