Situated atop SoHo’s James Hotel, Jimmy is an approachable rooftop lounge befitting its (nick)name. No clipboard lists, no intimidating doormen...the only thing that will stop you from going to Jimmy is the price of the cocktails—the least expensive drink on the specialty menu comes in at a cool $16. But unlike other roof decks where you pay for the view, the cocktails are expertly crafted here, featuring fresh ingredients combined with painstaking detail. The Mexican Honey-Bee (Milagro Reposado Tequila, organic orange flower honey, Mezcal, lavender bitters and lemon) comes garnished with a decadent piece of honeycomb, while wintry cocktails like the bourbon-based Legal in Vermont are ideal accompaniments to a chat by the fire. Just don’t expect drinks to arrive quickly…it takes time to pluck rose petal garnishes, people! An eclectic mix of tunes plays at just the right volume to allow for simultaneous toe-tapping and conversation, while floor-to-ceiling windows provide all the décor you need.
