Junoon: Fans of Indian food have come to expect spices like caraway, tandoori, saffron and fennel in their curries…but in their cocktails? Head to Junoon, and you’ll see just how much a dash of garam masala can do for your drinks. The cocktail menu ($12-$15) is divided into signature offerings, where the above spices are heavily featured, and riffs on classics like the Highland Cooler (scotch, lime, simple syrup, Angostura bitters and ginger beer). Grab a seat on an intricately carved swing in the expansive bar area, and schmooze with your colleagues over an order of Walnut Prune Naan and a Tandoori Tequila (silver tequila, lime, muddled tandoori pineapple, curry leaf and pippali pepper). If you’re still hungry for more treats from Chef Vikas Khanna’s famed spice room, retreat to the palatial dining area, which literally features décor imported from Indian palaces. There, you can feast like a king (and spend like one), but just make sure you save room for desert…the Spiced Chocolate Cake ($12) is not to be missed.
