K! pizzacone: The late great George Carlin, once said "nail two things that have never been nailed together before, and some schmuck will buy it." Taken figuratively, K! has done just that: merging NYC's signature dish (the pizza slice) with a zany new shape (conic, of course). The result: lines out the door, (for now at least), as the newest craze to peak the city's food-obssesion brings in a constant stream of locals, tourists and post happy-hour (or closing time) crowds. Boasting “pizza on the go!” (Um, were we using a knife and fork for our slice before this great invention?), K!'s crust and toppings are nothing to write home about, but...it's shaped like a cone! Plus, the menu does get inventive (hello, breakfast pizza!) Ultimately, the kitchiness of the entire operation is enough to keep foodies enticed for a hot minute and the no-mess factor (the grease being kind enough to settle into the bottom of the cone) is a bonus. Plus, it surely beats ice cream after a night of drunken debauchery. |
