Kelly's Bar & Grill:
The bartender swears that Kelly’s is a century old. “It’s been around since Prohibition!” he says – and by the looks of it, so have some of the patrons. Those born after Eisenhower's presidency, or not decked out in a Giants sweatsuit and FDNY baseball hat, might feel out of their element at this kooky Irish dive, but younger wanderers shouldn’t feel intimidated – the Kelly’s community is ready to welcome you with open arms. Owner Sandra, an ex-burlesque showgirl, rules the roost and if you stay on her good side, you might be invited to one of her famous barbeques or St. Patrick’s Day parties. Not ready for that kind of commitment? At least stop in once to witness this piece of Queens history, which is right out of a Bukowski novel, or a movie, which is probably why Edie Falco’s “Nurse Jackie” is filmed here.
