Kelly's Sports Bar: It takes a special breed of sports bar to misspell "hockey" on its website. And Kelly’s, an East Village sports dump that epitomizes the ubiquitous Irish pubs and sports bars typically found on Midtown sidestreets, is exactly that breed. The place is jam packed with so many digital and projection TVs airing sports you'd think you were in ESPN's war room...and even during the rare down moment in the action, you can still get your personal sports fix on the billiard table or the air hocky [sic] machine. The token juke box blares loudly, allowing you to at least attempt to drown out the cat calls, drunken howls and fightin' words of... Sabres fans? Yep, that cacophony happens on the regular due to Kelly's unusual allegiance to the “Buffalo Bills, Sabres, Chicago Cubs and Wisconsin Badgers.” Everyone needs a niche, we suppose. Nonetheless, the usual sports bar perks are there: a happy hour ($3 pints, $4 wells and wines), late-night kamikaze shots for two bucks, things like that. So no need to be a spoil-sport.
