Kennedy’s:
This isn’t one of those faux Irish pubs that throw up some Guinness signs and call it a day. A framed map of Ireland, photos of politicians (guess which one is the focus), and ceramic jugs fill the walls, while men with brogues pack the bar. Red tablecloths match the red banquettes and stools are lined up at the pew-like bar accented with a brass rail. Follow the crowd to the second bar in the back section, where there are also two dining areas to sample the Irish-American menu that focuses on steak and seafood. One is set among shelves of books and a second, larger room, the Desmond Room, is kind of a Hell’s Kitchen version of Medieval Times. Wood-beam ceilings are centered with stained-glass panels and a stone fireplace heats up the room when the weather is cold. We hear Guinness works pretty well at warming you up too.
I love the place. It is probably one of the friendliest place sto meet for drinks that I have found. Even though I only go once or twice a year I always meet the same people at the bar and they always remember and welcome me. The bar staff remember your drinks even if its been six months or more since you were there. Amazing! Definitely give it a try.
