This is another one of those deceptively sized bars. It looks average from the outside, but once inside, you realize you’ve been had. Like we can only assume Vern Troyer might, this combo pub does a good job of making the most of its smallish space. A long downstairs bar area decorated with Mardi Gras lights is always jammed full of neighborhood folk and tourists imbibing on 25 varieties of beer, while an upper-level, couch-laden candlelit lounge—complete with a pool table—saves itself for private parties. The menu’s full of pub grub mixed with international favorites like chicken satay and quesadillas, but it’s clear that most patrons are there to drink dinner.
I held a surprise 30th birthday for my husband in the upstairs lounge area at Kevin St. James and it was great! The party package pricing is very reasonable, the food was great and plentiful, the space was perfect for our group, and the bartenders and staff were friendly and incredibly accommodating. I heard that everything on this block has been bought out and is being torn down early next year, so I'd recommend everyone visit this place before it goes. Hopefully it will re-open somewhere else because this place is quite a find. Thanks guys!
