Kingdom: It first attempted flight as Oulu, a fancy lounge lost in the shuffle of Williamsburg's overwhelming bar scene. It was quickly re-branded Night Owl, but just as the locals started giving a hoot, the bar pulled a Madonna and re-invented itself again. Now known as Kingdom, the spot has morphed into Brooklyn’s first boutique / bar, leaving all the highlights of the Night Owl intact (e.g. the Skee Ball machine), and transforming the front room into a shopper’s paradise. Featuring designs by Brooklyn Kingdom as well as smaller labels like Caja Jewelry, Fancy Sexy Me and Necks Tuesday, the boutique is open Wed-Sun, noon to 8pm, while the bar keeps on serving up specialty cocktails like the $7 BKR (champagne, St. Germain and Limoncello) until 2am weekdays and 4am weekends. So let’s see, arcade games, shopping and booze…kinda sounds like an adult version of Chuck E. Cheese to us, a.k.a. the perfect place for your next party. They’re still working out the kinks (including the official name), but they already have killer happy hour deals in play (including a $5 Tecate and a shot special!). Just don’t drink too much too fast or, in addition to a hangover, you may wake up with a case of buyer’s remorse. |
