La Carbonara:
Admittedly, the homey red awning over four white glass-paned doors reminds you of a sweet family Italian joint your parents took you to while visiting Pennsylvania. Thankfully, so will the prices on the menu: The meals top out at $15, with the titular dish going for a mere $9.95. Oh yeah, the wine's cheap too (all bottles under $30), which contributes to the pleasant vibe of a relaxed Tuscan meal. Or, in some cases, a German beer garden, because La Carbonara can turn surprisingly festive. Seriously, you may find the person sitting at the table next to you filling up your glass. (It's the sort of thing you can expect when the wine is the same price as a Diet Coke in a neighboring place). Okay, it's not Friday night at Marquee, but we can assure you that at some point you will end up doing some pasta-burning on the dance floor...most likely with a staff member.
I went there with my friends the other night and I don't know how many times our table plus people at the bar told the manager, bartender and waitstaff to turn the loud music (which kept changing) down and we felt like we were in some weird club or something. We couldn't even enjoy our dinners. Food-good. Management-Douchebaggie for such a nice place. Customers opinion doesn't matter. So sad to see it run down by a bunch of kids who obviously don't know what they are doing.
