La Giara: This spot claims to be traditional Italian with a twist, but we see straight-up classico italiano here. Like many other Italian joints in the city, this cozy place offers patrons choices from an extensive wine list and a variety of not-too-cheap pastas, like the "Fusilli al ferretto con salsiccia e piselli" (translation: fresh twisted pasta, sausages, peas in a creamy sauce, $15), but if you’re looking for something that sets this place apart, it’s their amazing specials. If you want to snag a deal, head down on Monday nights for $9 pastas, Tuesday for a $25 three course meal, Wednesday for ½ price bottles of wine, and Thursday for ladies night, where females get ½ price on selected drinks. The weekend brings goodies, too—buy a Mimosa or Bloody Mary with a main course for Saturday and Sunday brunch and get unlimited refills. With wine bottle-laden brick walls, dim lighting and cozy seating, this is a choice Murray Hill date night spot for any couple.
