La Linea:
Spanish for “the line,” La Linea is the ultimate dive bar with international flavor...unless you’re Italian, in which case the small space may prove too confining for your arm gestures. A mirror above the bar creates the illusion of space, but illusion it is. The fabulously potent mojitos, meanwhile, create the illusion of stunning good looks in the person you’re chatting up at the bar, but with this early 30ish crowd, you can take the risk. La Linea’s minimalist décor of blues offset by earth tones sets a subdued background for fiery foreign relations. In the words of Johnny Cash, “walk the line.”
I’ve been here twice, once for dinner and drinks and once for just drinks and my experience was pleasant. The place itself is tiny and you are sitting almost in each other’s lap while eating, but the food was good and not too pricey. The second time, I enjoyed some great sangria while listening to live music. I haven’t been back for a while but I would recommend this place for anyone who likes some Spanish vibe and doesn’t mind crowds.
