Le Bain at the Standard Hotel:
Just when you thought the Standard Hotel couldn’t get any hotter…Le Bain, the “other” roof top bar, opens with a bang…and a splash…and a few topless women. Le Bain translates to “the bath” from French to English, so you won’t be surprised to find a swimming pool smack in the middle of the 18th floor club, nor will you be shocked to see the scantily-clad clientele taking advantage of it (this is voyeur heaven after all). Twisty stairs lead up to the roof covered in faux grass and lawn chairs that take the word “lounge” to a whole new level (check out the pink waterbeds). Despite being adjacent to Andre Balazs’ Boom Boom Room, Le Bain sports a separate entrance and whole different party. Instead of socialites grinding on the dance floor, you’ll find scenesters stretched out on the lawn, admiring the killer views and struggling to hear the music over all the name dropping. The key player in the new club is Andre Saraiva, the mastermind behind Paris’s Le Baron (their equivalent of the Beatrice Inn). So the only question left is, which of the two Andres’ spots will flaunt the longer line?
