Legends: What is the stuff that legends are made of? According to Legends, a tri-level fortress down the street from Penn Station, they are made of overpriced pub food, blaring music and an after-work business crowd. They are not, however, made of modesty—while the overstated cellar-level party room displays photos of male greats (Mickey Mantle, JFK, etc.) the plush upstairs "sitting room" is adorned with nude women. Sexist décor aside, the female persuasion is catered to with a colorful cocktail list including the Empire State Bellini (prosecco, peach liquor, peach puree, $10) alongside the standard wine and drafts. Though lunch is obviously the main meal of the day this close to the Empire State building, a full dining room caters to a dinner crowd not looking to share booths with recent MBA grads and their Bud bottles. While the bar is busiest for post-work drinks, late night has the potential to get interesting thanks to a DJ who matches music videos to the '80s set list—well, as interesting as things can get in Midtown West. |
