Loreley Williamsburg: These days, pretty much any bar with a few picnic tables and brews is calling itself a beer garden, but only a few can really be considered a brauhaus. Enter Loreley Williamsburg, the Brooklyn outpost of the LES favorite, which has transformed an old gas station into a beer-drinker’s paradise. The garden itself boasts several shared tables covered by enormous umbrellas decorated in colored lights. It’s all surrounded by a curvy brick wall that shields you from the roar of the BQE, but unfortunately does nothing to silence the drunken frat boys beside you (yes they have these in BK, too). The vast selection of brews rotates seasonally, save the signature Cologne kölsch beers ($6) which, like all their beers, come served in their corresponding glasses. Side note: don’t be afraid of “the strongest beer on the menu”…we weren’t. Alongside the beers is a small list of signature cocktails refreshing enough to keep non-beer-drinkers from dragging you down. The food meanwhile, ranges in price from $5 for their signature Brat to $21 for their large butcher’s plate, easily feeding a group of three. Inside, a sky-lighted seating area features exposed brick, steel framed windows and reclaimed wood (a.k.a. trendy Brooklyn décor 101), as well as a large screening area, which guarantees that Loreley will be worth the trek year-round. |
