Jazz downtown without a cover? What a novel idea. Named for Louis Armstrong, this place is oozing with romance, chilled vodka, and single-malt Scotch. Break-out cool cats entertain a sophisticated audience in Alphabet City. This place is quickly gaining momentum, and the cool factor is tipping the Richter scale. The friendly staff is good-looking and unusually helpful. There’s no official happy hour to speak of, but selected vino is reduced on a revolving roster. Soak up the nightly live music and atmosphere, but don’t get too out of control, as Hamasa (a pit bull) calls Louis 649 home.

Excellent live band, great staff & attention. Cleanest restroom in the city! Loved it, love the cozy atmosphere & clientele - NO RIFTRAFT!!!! Makes this place a super find and fantastic spot for incredible music, conversation & a wonderful evening.
