Lucy of Gramercy: This Latin themed eatery has been rechristened so many times we wouldn't be surprised to find Ms. Lucy in our therapist's office suffering from an identity crisis. Perhaps the most noticeable overhaul lies with the menu, which tailors its geographic focus to Puerto Rico and is divided into Picadera, First Plates, Main Plates, and Sides. With some bites served in margarita glasses, it reinforces that margarita glasses should only be used for one thing. Unfortunately, the majority of the menu suffers a similar fate as the aforementioned vapid little vittles, which seem as lost as a Darien soccer mom in the Puerto Rican Day Parade. But as with most ventures, we're really here to drink. And judging by the crowded bar and desolate dining room, everyone else is thinking the same thing. The cocktails, though expensive, are delicious (try the Pineapple mojito, an off-the-menu item as bewitching as the food is disappointing). Lucy of Gramercy would do well to employ the adage "If it ain't broke, don't fix it” though as we're neither management (nor regular customers) we'll put it delicately to Ms. Lucy and say, "It's not you, it's us." |
